OCEAN ROWER
NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN CROSSING BY ROW
Mylène Paquette is the first person from the Americas to have crossed the North Atlantic Ocean solo by rowboat. A human adventure that goes far beyond a sporting feat.
Her challenges included 29 low-pressure systems, 9 storms, 2 hurricanes, 10 capsizes, and 12-meter waves over 129 days and more than 5,000 km. Though alone, her journey was punctuated by extraordinary encounters: marine mammals, sharks, thousands of bioluminescent phytoplankton, a 6,300-passenger cruise ship that came to cheer her on in the middle of the ocean, and many other remarkable human encounters. This adventure stands apart from any other modern expedition through its uniqueness, its values, and its impact.

COMMUNICATOR
A book that traveled
BEYOND THE HORIZON
A human adventure that goes far beyond a sporting achievement. In a deeply personal tone, Mylène tells the story of her odyssey as it has never been told before—from the moment the idea was born to her departure at sea, her triumphant arrival in France, and her return to Montréal. She shares what drove her to undertake this extraordinary journey, why a stranger lent her thousands of dollars, how she met Hermel, the “man with eyes full of stars,” as well as the pivotal moments and decisive encounters along the way. An intimate and gripping journey that only she could reveal.
BEYOND THE HORIZON is a previously untold account of an exhilarating quest for the absolute. With 35,000 paper copies sold, the book is also available in audio format.
A stage production
The Promise of the Sea
Mylène’s story unfolds like a punch to the gut in the stage play co-written by Mylène Paquette and Bryan Perro, which recounts the defining moments of her journey. An unexpected premise awaited audiences during this production. The duo delivered an original, unique, and colorful text. Tammy Verge embodies Mylène Paquette with all her drive, audacity, flaws, and doubts.
The play was performed 31 times before an audience of 2,500 spectators between July and September 2019.
Columns and hosting
Beyond her conferences, Mylène is passionate about hosting evenings and events and regularly gives interviews to the media.
She also shared her ideas through her column “Flots d’idées,” published in Espaces magazine. She also co-hosted, with Francis Reddy, the documentary series “La Grande Traversée,” broadcast on Radio-Canada, RDI, and Explora.
Des concerts
Mylène has also ventured into the musical world.
Her Atlantic rowing crossing inspired a radio drama broadcast live from the Maison symphonique and on Radio-Canada (ICI Musique). For the occasion, the Montréal Symphony Orchestra brought together 107 musicians on stage, along with actors portraying Hermel, Michel, and Mylène. She also performed with the Quatuor Claudel in a free-form narrative entitled “The Ocean, a Woman, and Her Music.”
